Minutes:
Attendees: Mike G., Nathan B., David A., Carl T., Chris L., Jie C., Vardan G., David L.
- Send connection information to Dave A. about the FPGA2 meeting in Wed.
- Discussed existing cards at JLab. Dave A. said one was already in indras2.
- Data Lake
- Discussed disk buffering. Chris pointed out that for it to be effective one would need to pre-buffer data and not wait for buffers to fill before trying to write to disk
- Pre-emptive buffering requires all data be written to disk. This would limit the speed of the lake and would wear out the disk pretty quickly.
- Decided it would generally be better to just drop frames in cases when falling behind.
- Mailing list
- David L. will check with Marco on status
- Decision on dedicated mailing list for this group will be made and implemented by next meeting (in 2 weeks)
- SAMPA
- Is there something we are waiting on Ed for?
- Ed was expecting some new cards to be delivered that are compatible with the FELIX cards
- Dave A.: Data can be streamed to alkaid
- Dave A. will check on system and see what needs to be done to get it working again. He feels it worthwhile to have the testbed operational.
- Nothing heard from Holly for a while on her plans for SAMPA. David L. will reach out.
- Is there something we are waiting on Ed for?
- VTP
- Large spikes in frame loss reduced significantly
- Lost frames seem to come in bursts
- New scripts are in place to allow remote control over the trigger rate
