Every Shift:

  1. Follow run plan as outlined by RC
  2. Ask MCC if orbit locks are on, they should be.
  3. Keep shift summery up-to-date in HBLOG
  4. Document any beam condition change and send scaler GUIs to HBLOG
  5. Send "scaler_hps" GUI to logbook at least twice per shift or any time run conditions change
  6. Peform 2H02A harp scan ones per shift or when beam conditions changed based on beam monitors (BPMs, halo rates, beam-viewer)
  7. Fill out shift checklist in the logbook, HBLOG, using template at least ones per shift or when run conditions change
  8. Continuously check quality of data
  9. With any issue contact On-Call Experts or RC.

MCC Daily Meetings


Run Plan:March 8 - 9 (6am)

Setup Beam to Hall-B Faraday cup Dump and Studies of Beam Properties.

  • Ask MCC to turn OFF the beam, turn OFF and degous tagger magnet
  • After tagger magnet is degaussed, change beam configuration on "bta" GUI to "Electron"
  • Insert Chromax screen on the downstream viewer on the beam
  • Ask for ~10 nA beam, watch cctv6 to make sure spot on the downstream viewer is clear and approximatly at the center of the screen
  • Check to make sure Faraday cup and nA BPMs read similar curents
  • Use 2H02A harp do study beam profile and stability (beam current should not exceed 20 nA)

Run Plan:March 6 - 8

Setup Beam to Hall-B Tagger Dump and Studies of Beam Properties.

  • Aid MCC to establish physics quality CW 1 pass beam to the Hall-B tagger dump:
  • When reasonable beam spot is achieved on the tagger dump screen perform harp scans, 2C21 and tagger (2C24) harps. Note: harp scans must be performed with 10 nA beam current
  • If beam x/y sizes are ~<250 um, proceed with program below, otherwise ask MCC to retune
  • Ask MCC to deliver oval shape beam at the tagger (2C24) harp: x-width ~250 um, y-width << x-width (if tuning is going to be too long, more than 1/2 hour, use whatever asymmetric beam is available)
  • Continue with 2C24 (tagger) harp scans at 10 nA to check beam tilt angle motion over time, as well as beam position and width stability - ~2 hours (till about 7pm) with scans every 1/2 hour
  • Study beam tails as a function of current - every 1 hours increase beam curent to 100 nA and perform tagger harp scan. for harps analysis use tagger right and upstream left
