Agenda [attended: Moskov, Nick, Michail, Justin, Chan, and Igor]
Promising for the coming proposal (for both LH2 and LD2 targets):
- Mikhail is considering KLp-->K+n process to show a full MC, estimation of possible statistics and expected uncertainties for angular distributions. Then he plans to evaluate background from np->nK+Λ and np->π+nn (with pion miss-identification as Kaon) and show expected angular distributions which one can possible to compare with available data and modern PWA results from Mark Manley.
Mikhail's slides are here [1].
- Nick is providing the studies for the Cascade. KLp-->K+Ξ0. He has already constructed the generator that Mikhail and he are using for our studies and he is finishing up reconstruction studies for the cascade. He plans to provide studies of cascade polarization. He can also generate some excited cascades and study resolutions and backgrounds. Then he is flexible in helping where there is more need. It was a very hectic beginning of the year, and didn't have any time to put in to detailed studies, but he now has a bit more time that he can spend on this project.
Then, Nick can easily do the KLp-->π+Λ and introducing a neutron target in his generator with a Fermi momentum. He needs to include the polarization in the generator and then do more detailed studies.
Nick's slides are here [2].
- Kijun will focus on π+Λ channel while Nick will continue his work on KΞ channel.
- It would be good that somebody will look for the KLp-->K+Σ0 channel.
- Lei thinks that he could pitch in for the strange mesons physics case (and simulation). He can also help the overall case for cascade and excited hyperons.
- Pavel considered a conceptual design for the compact photon source (CPS).
- Igor presented neutron background MC results using the MCNP6 transport code. They are good for RadCon. RedCon asked
for more calculations.
- Justin will consider the possibility to improve the time resolution of the start counter.
- Moskov spoke about possibility to do K-pi study [3]
Theoretical details are at Emilie Passemar's slides on the KL2016 [4].
The bottom line is that we will have a unique opportunity to get info about κ-meson.
- As discussed at the recent "New Opportunities with High-Intensity Photon Sources" workshop [5] earlier this month at CUA, Thia Keppel called a follow-up meeting with the smaller group representing the various efforts and collaborations to move towards an apples to apples comparison of options and issues for the CPS development. This collaborative, one/best source approach is in direct response to the PAC suggestion. KL representatives are Pavel and Igor.
