LERF ICD is has been released for official review. Curt met with the SLAC team Friday and finalized delivery dates for RF hardware and racks.

Tunnel is all cleaned up and ready for the shuffle, once the CEBAF style modules are moved out the waveguide will be prepared for the new installation.

One theme was how to properly align the two modules in order to make up the conflat connections and then to be able to get a good leak check. In the Fermilab configuration there are no “U-Tubes” so evacuating & isolating the various Helium circuits to get the background to an acceptable level is a bit difficult. In the LERF configuration (as well as the test lab) we are able to do the leak check procedure prior to stabling the U-Tubes so the additional background of Helium from the cryo-plant is not present. Tag noted that making the beam line vacuum connection in the vault at the low elevation could be problematic.

This has been my concern and a motivation to have the end return can mounted in the test lab prior to moving to the LERF vault. He also noted that putting an epoxy coating on the floor, especially in the area of the beam line connection between the two modules would help in controlling the particle count in the portable clean hood.

I also noted that the clean hoods at Fermi had shelving around two sides, this is convenient and located below the critical location to minimize and introduced turbulence in the laminar flow. For the LERF installation this is impractical since the cryomodule will be so low to the floor – one can just stage tools on the (clean plastic covering the clean floor)

CryoModule Test Facility Discussions
