DISCUSSION MATERIAL
CPS Simulation Status (Gabriel)
CPS configurations (from previous meeting)
ACTION ITEMS
- CPS simulations
- start discussion on how to make a more general version (flexible geometries, output, etc)
- Gabriel's ToDo list:
- Validate model (magnetic fields, materials, geometries)
- Study influence of density of W powder
- "egg"-shape shielding
- re-check all normalizations
- short write-up on FLUKA conversion factor (David H)
- Article
- Implement all comments received so far and circulate new version (Tanja, Rolf)
- Further optimize for journal publication (David H)
Discussion Details
- Discussion CPS model and simulations
- Four configurations implemented
- Page 5: Radiation level after 1 hour of cooling - results seem to have the expected trends; vertical axis shows mrem/hr (note: target is ~< few mrem/hr)
- Page 7: prompt radiation seems fine for any of the four configurations
- FLUKA conversion factor - Parker Reid, David H, and Bodgan benchmarked the fluence 3-4 months ago and found FLUKA/GEANT4 conversion consistent
- Thoughts on how to generalize simulation - Gabriel and Sean might meet in person to discuss details
- CPS article discussion
- Current draft (comments not yet implemented) could benefit from additional optimizations, and in particular separating specifics and general information
- CPS funding
- NSF MRI option
- Possible UK contribution
NEXT MEETING: FRIDAY 11 OCTOBER at 11:00 AM (ET)
