Discussion items:

  • Design models, stress/thermal calculations Slides
  • Engineering analysis and planning
  • TCS updates
  • Other

PARTICIPANTS: Amy Comer, Bogdan Wojtsekhowski, Brannon Semp, Donal Day, Deb Biswas, Hamlet Mkrtchyan, Hovanes Egiyan, Steven Lassiter, Marie Boer, Rolf Ent, Vardan Tadevosyan, Yeranuhi Ghandilyan, Tanja Horn

ENGINEERING/DESIGN

  • PR sent out for magnet steel, coil, etc.
  • Prototype
  • waiting on electrical work and some monitoring and control interface development
  • planning tests this fall
  • Presentation on status of CPS at Hall D meeting
  • will circulate draft talk for comments/feedback

FLUENT MODEL

  • Model consistency checks
  • coordinate systems needed to be made consistent between Bogdan/Gabriel FLUKA model and Fluent
  • Working on next iteration - need to make consistent mesh with Fluent
  • one approach: for each point (x,y,z) in table need power deposition - need to find points that are nearby in Fluent model representative then do interpolation
  • another approach: remove all not relevant points (those that give zero results)
  • Note: good to make models consistent from the start

HALL D CPS DESIGN

  • Longer design (3m) with longer magnetic field (2T)
  • Planning fo finish conceptual design and hold a design review in Winter 2022/23, then begin optimization
  • Main person working on design: V. Baturin

FLUKA SIMULATIONS

  • power deposition in copper block is complete
  • scale beam power as needed - power deposition proportional to beam power
  • simulations for shielding are ongoing

REMAINING DESIGN AND OTHER

  • remaining shielding
  • plastic
  • final design absorber
  • infrastructure list including moving experiment downstreams (assumed operations)

PLANS FOR TCS PROPOSAL

  • In approach towards submission of a TCS proposal consider addressing PAC concerns on the experiment
  • see PAC report - detailed technical concerns are listed there
  • Polarized TCS science case seems good - no need to change at least not right away
  • Discussion about path forward - major item: make a plan for addressing PAC concerns in coordinated way

NEXT MEETING: FRIDAY 14 OCTOBER AT 8:00AM ET
