Minutes

Attendees: David L., Thomas B., Lisa S-L.

  • Lisa communicated with Wayne Santos (IT at NNPS). They can configure the student laptops however we need for the day.
  • We discussed the use of ChatGPT
    • Agreed it would be good to include as a tool
    • Will need to instruct on proper use and verification techniques
    • Need responsibility piece
    • Will need to confirm chromebooks have access
    • May be education feature for some LLM. (David and Thomas will check)
  • David spoke with Carl Bolithio about potential issues for using JLab WiFi access points.
    • He said using the existing guest network is the best option.
    • F113 has 3 access points each able to server ~50 devices.
  • F113 is the appropriate room
    • Lisa suggested we reserve 2 dates now and decide which to use later
    • Should add a third date for planning/testing
  • Lunch
    • Kids will bring their own lunch. Schools may supply bagged lunches.
    • Need to plan some walking around time (upstairs?)
    • Could walk over near ARC if statue is there
    • Tour of outside of data center (DAQ lab?)
  • We discussed which grade would be appropriate
    • Lisa suggested 7th since there seem to be a lot of activities/programs aimed at 6th and 8th graders
      • 7th grade focus is Life Sciences
      • We should look at SOL for 7th grade to try and do something relevant
