AIOP - Polarized Target
Agenda:
- Previous Meeting
- Announcements
- Project Progress
- Task assignments (FTE Profiles)
- PIER Activities
- Middle School Data Science Hackathon Workshop
- HUGS mini-Workshop
- AOT
Minutes
Attendees: James M., Naomi J., Malachi S., Torri J., Thomas B., Jiawei G.
- Naomi gave brief update on the 5-min lightning talk she gave at the recent Hall-D Polarized Target workshop
- She noted Ken Livingston showed interest in the project. We should send him a link to the proposal.
- Still some access issues with Github Project. Patrick and Jaiwei need to be added to JeffersonLab organization. (David can do that)
- Torri showed some slides on preliminary data logging along with a few plots
- James already had some extensive information in a number of files in JSON format
- We discussed the nature of the NMR data that was collected.
- It involves sweeping through a range of frequencies over a ~3min time period
- Multiple passes are made and the average of the values at each frequency recorded to give an waveform
- James explained some issues with RG-C data from CLAS12 due to coils being outside of the target instead of inside where they would normally put them.
- The external coils make the NMR more sensitive to beam position. The beam itself was rastered so illuminated an area of the cup.
- RG-C analysis of elastic events to measure the polarization is ongoing, but currently not in agreement with the NMR measurement
- The elastic event method requires a lot of statistics and the final analysis just uses an average polarization for the entire run.
- Silvia N. is a contact person for RG-C. Torri will contact her to ask about the status and open a dialog.
- We discussed extracting the NMR signal from the background. This will involve modeling the background as a function of time.
- James has some files taken as pure background that can help with this purpose.
Action Items
- Send link to proposal to Ken L. (David)
