Hypernuclear Calibration and Production Run

This hypernuclear experiment will use three targets (H, T, and He) with two different kinematics.

Kinematics 1: E_beam = 4.3185 GeV L_HRS_P0 = 2.1000 GeV/c and L_HRS_Theta0 = 13.2 degrees; R_HRS_P0 = 1.8231 GeV/c and L_HRS_Theta0 = 13.2 degrees.

Kinematics 2: E_beam = 4.3185 GeV L_HRS_P0 = 2.2180 GeV/c and L_HRS_Theta0 = 13.2 degrees; R_HRS_P0 = 1.8231 GeV/c and L_HRS_Theta0 = 13.2 degrees.

K1 is used for the H target run only. The goal is to have both Lambda and Sigma productions in the kinematics acceptance with Sigma having about 1/2 the statistics that Lambda having. This is the key calibration data for kinematics and optics optimizations with known Lambda and Sigma masses.

K2 is used for the production run with He and T targets. The kinematics acceptance is maximized for the mass of Lnn at single Lambda separation threshold.

Run plan I. Start with the H target with K1: (1) check singles rates and coincidence rate; (2) check coincidence timing and finalize trigger; (3) check aerogel detector A1 and A2 performance; and (4) take 48 hours of Lambda/Sigma production run (study PID, coincidence time spectrum, generate preliminary missing mass spectrum and verify production yield rate).

II. Production run with K2: Alternating T and He targets and starting with T. Taking 8 hours of He data after each 24 hours of T data. The result from He target will provide extremely important reference and information for understanding the outcome from T result.

Run lists for the 3rd person

You can find the file of run lists which will be checked by the 3rd person during the shift. Kosuke Itabashi submitted the information of the file to HALOG. The file is a google spreadsheet. You can find it from the entry below.
