For the Mott polarimeter we are making a real top-down assessment with improvements where objective is a test of the polarimeter precision. To do this we are addressing various areas:

improvements and measurements of targets and collimator acceptance

reduction of backgrounds through lower-Z materials and TOF laser pulse selection

fully new Geant4 model of polarimeter geometry, including polarization processes

theory estimates on Sherman function, dominant systematic uncertainty

higher beam power mode of operation for systematic studies

modern parity-style FADC based DAQ for beam instrumentation and detector collection

new HVPS control system

improvement of signal:noise
